The International Conference on Fluid Mechanics (ICFM) provides good opportunities for scientists to present their

latest achievements in the fields of fluid mechanics, including theoretical, experimental, and computational fluid mechanics, as well as relevant interdisciplinary subjects. It also provides a forum for researchers to exchange their ideas with originality. It is organized by the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM) and had been successful held in Beijing (1987, 1993, 1998), Dalian (2004) and Shanghai (2007), while this one is the sixth of the series.

This Sixth International Conference on Fluid Mechanics (ICFM VI) is to be held in Yi-He Hotel, Guangzhou, China,

from 30 June to 3 July, 2011. Leading scientists, researchers, engineers, as well as young students in the field of fluid mechanics will come together from around the world. The Conference has altogether 9 sessions. There will be 8 plenary session lectures and 12 invited speeches (sign “∗” in contents) in different sessions, and more than 179 participants will present their works. Authors come from 19 countries or regions, including Canada, Egypt, Estonia, Germany, Hong Kong (China), India, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore ,Taiwan (China), UAE,UK, Ukraine, the USA, and China. I am very pleased that more and more researchers from different countries are attracted to join this series of meetings.

On behalf of the Scientific and Academic Committee, I would like to express our sincere thanks for the presence and collaboration of all the participants with enthusiasm, in particular, all the plenary session lecturers and invited speakers for their important and interesting talks.
