AbstractWhen the temperature exceeds 3000 K, the radiation effect may become non-ignorable. It is easy to reach such high temperatures for liquid propellant rocket engines fuelled by hydrogen-oxygen. However, the role of thermal radiation has been rarely studied for hydrogen-oxygen rocket combustor. In this study, the effect of radiation on a GH2/GO2 rocket combustor was investigated by using Discrete Ordinates model (DO), Improved Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation (IDDES) and a Dynamic Zone Flamelet combustion Model (DZFM). Through incorporating radiation, the wall heat flux was better reproduced compared with those without radiation. The flow fields were further analyzed to reveal the influence of radiation on the flow structures.
